Prašno barvanje mat fina struktura-ročaji in kljuke za vhodna vrata-Griffing

Application of powder coatings to door handles: a fine structure is more suitable than a smooth structure

For customers

Prašno barvanje mat fina struktura-ročaji in kljuke za vhodna vrata-Griffing

Stainless steel door handles, levers and other hardware for front doors get a modern look by being coloured in a range of shades that match the overall look of the house. The powder coat is applied to the products in the form of dust particles and in a way that offers the best possible protection. Despite the many application methods, we have concluded after numerous comparisons between matt smooth and matt fine structure that the latter is more resistant, more durable and less susceptible to environmental influences*.

Why use a matt fine structure rather than a matt smooth structure?

The photo below shows a door handle coated with a matt smooth structure (left), and a door handle coated with a matt fine structure (right).

Smooth structure vs. fine structure-Griffing

Both door handles are matt. The one on the left (smooth structure) is matt and the on the right (fine structure) is deep matt.

The smooth structure of the handle quickly shows wear marks from everyday use, for example from touching the door handle with a ring or keys, as the layer of coating is also thinner. Fingerprints and any other blemishes are also visible on the surface, making it more difficult to clean.

The fine-structured handle is less susceptible to weathering and mechanical stress*, and will scratch less easily as the coating is thicker. Because it does not show fingerprints and other small marks, it is also easier to clean.

Matt smooth structure Matt fine structure
Surface Matt, smooth surface Deep matt, robust surface
Scratch resistance Small High
Weathering resistance Small High
Fingerprints Highly visible on the surface Not visible on the surface
Cleaning Difficult, as every trace on the surface is visible Easy
Durability Lower Greater

Because of all these advantages, we wish to inform our customers who have chosen a matt smooth structure about the benefits of a matt fine structure and make them aware of the potential problems that could arise after use. Namely, no one wishes for dissatisfied users or complaints. That is why we prefer recommending a matt fine structure, which is not so different in appearance from a smooth structure, but is of higher quality and has many other advantages that will make the user’s life easier and reduce the costs.
