The door handle must match the door
The design of a front door handle must be tailored to the design of front doors, and not vice versa. ‘Building a long-term relationship with door manufacturers, focusing on joint design guidelines, the exchange of ideas and customisation are of key importance. Let us imagine that the manufacturer has bored a hole in the door that does not fit the handle. Instead of throwing away an expensive door, we can adapt by producing a door handle to fit. This way the door manufacturer is spared the cost of throwing away an otherwise perfectly good product,’ explains Mr. Urban Češarek, the owner of Griffing.
Custom made door handles are a rarity
Manufacturing custom made door handles means adjusting the size, shape and design, which is a rarity on the market. Door handle manufacturers offer different shapes, sizes and functionalities, but they draw the line when it comes to personal preferences and make customers choose from a pre-determined offer.
‘Door manufacturers use different manufacturing methods, so not every door handle will suit their needs. Many want to stand out on the market and offer something new, advanced, and noticeable. They often come up with highly creative designs and have very clear ideas about what kind of a door handle they are looking for. Moreover, they also have a deep insight into the needs and expectations of customers. They know the market demands and therefore want to be involved in the manufacturing of the door handles. After all, the right choice of a handle completes the door in the best way possible,’ explains Mr. Češarek.
Minor adjustments vs. participation from the beginning of the product development phase
On the one hand, a product can only have a small customised feature, on the other, it can be the result of collaboration going all the way back to the door handle development phase. In the latter case, as Mr. Češarek explains, customers come with a defined idea and are involved in production from the very beginning.
A custom made door handle can have a special shape unlike any you see on the market. We can paint the door handles different colours and apply various surface treatments, or they can be made from stainless steel of different quality grades with a custom curve, a different number and position of mounts as well as a special manner of fitting into the door panel. In addition, we can fit a fingerprint scanner at any height as well as add decorative inserts, LED lighting, and much more.

Door handles with personal decorative features are no longer a thing of the future
Custom made door handles give us the opportunity to design inserts that can be made of glass, wood, aluminium or the same material that the door is made of. ‘The inserts can come in different colours and materials to match the style of the doors. Some customers wish to use the material which the doors are made from. For them, we produce a stainless steel frame for the door handle, while the insert is made by the door manufacturer. The possibilities of personal decorative features also include various motifs, photographs, inscriptions and so on. In short, any printed content that reflects the customer’s character and adds a personal note,’ concludes Mr. Urban Češarek.
